Media Release - 17 September 2021

Recent media reports indicate that Mr Christian Porter, the Federal Minister for Industry, Science and Technology, announced that a “blind trust” namely Legal Services Trust made a “part contribution” towards a proceeding against the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Mr Porter has not provided any details of which State the said “blind trust” is registered in. Mr Porter’s incomplete statement has led various media organisations and unspecified members of the public to associate the said “blind trust” referred to by Mr Porter with Legal Services Trust registered in WA, which operates AUL Law.

This release confirms that Legal Services Pty Ltd (ACN 624 072 564/ABN 43 624 072 564) as trustee for the Legal Services Trust registered in WA and trading as AUL Law has no association whatsoever with the “blind trust” referred to by Mr Porter. The Legal Services Trust registered in WA has no connection with Mr Porter nor has it contributed towards Mr Porter’s legal costs in any way.

We note that this practice has received a range of vilifying, potentially intimating and distasteful telephone calls and emails from members of various media organisations and unspecified members of the public in this regard. We confirm that we have no association whatsoever with any Australian political party, politician nor have we conducted any transactions for them on their behalf, financial or otherwise.
